Golden Visa

Living in Italy Without Working

The Italian Elective Residence Visa (Visto per Residenza Elettiva) is designed for non-EU nationals who wish to live in Italy long-term without working — retirees, those with passive income, or financially independent individuals seeking to relocate to Italy permanently.

This visa allows the holder to reside in Italy and move freely within the Schengen Area. After five years of legal residency, applicants may apply for permanent residence; after ten years, they may become eligible for Italian citizenship.
